The tool keeps as much detail as your size allows. For very small sizes it also reduces the pixel dimensions, and the result shows the new width and height.

Questions & Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

Upload your photo, pick a preset such as 20 KB, 50 KB or 100 KB, or drag the slider to any size. The tool compresses the image to at or just under that size and shows the exact result before you download it.

It will be at or slightly under 50 KB, never over. Upload limits are maximums, so a 48 KB file passes a 50 KB limit. The result card shows the exact size in KB and in bytes.

A large photo cannot fit into a very small file at its full pixel size without looking broken. The tool reduces the dimensions only as much as needed and shows the new width and height. If your form asks for exact pixel dimensions, set them first with the Image Resizer, then compress here.

The result card says so in red and shows the smallest size it reached. Choose a larger target, or reduce the pixel dimensions first.

Smart compression removes redundant data while keeping the image visually close to the original. Lower targets save more space; very small targets may soften fine detail. For a balance, try 100–200 KB for full-size photos.

Yes. Everything runs inside your browser — your images are never uploaded to a server or stored anywhere. It's safe for documents, ID photos, and personal pictures.

Compressing reduces the file size in KB; resizing changes the pixel dimensions. If you also need to change width and height, use our Image Resizer first, then compress the result here.

You can upload JPG, PNG and WebP. The compressed file is saved as JPG. Transparent areas in a PNG become white.
