How It Works

How Our Converter Works

Unlike browser tools that guess column positions, our server-side engine reads the actual PDF structure for far greater accuracy.

Step 01
Upload Your PDF

Drop or select any PDF. Your file is sent securely to the Python server over HTTPS.

Step 02
Engine Extracts Data

Our server reads the real PDF table structure — rows, columns, and cells exactly as they appear.

Step 03
Download Excel

Get a formatted .xlsx file with auto column widths, headers, and alternating row colours.

Privacy
File Not Stored

Your PDF is processed in memory and immediately discarded. Nothing is saved on the server.

Output
Multi-Sheet Excel

Each page of your PDF gets its own sheet. Open directly in Excel, Google Sheets, or LibreOffice.

Accuracy
Complex PDF Support

Handles multi-column layouts, merged headers, long names, and dense government/official documents.

How to Convert a PDF to Excel

Copying tables out of a PDF by hand is slow and error-prone — numbers shift columns, rows merge, and formatting breaks. This tool reads the tables inside your PDF and rebuilds them as a clean, editable .xlsx spreadsheet, so you can sort, total, and edit the data straight away. Just upload the PDF, let it extract the tables, and download the Excel file.

When This Tool Saves the Most Time

  • Bank and account statements — turn a PDF statement into rows you can filter and sum (sent over secure HTTPS for conversion).
  • Reports and invoices — pull line items into a spreadsheet for accounting.
  • Result sheets and data tables — convert tabular PDFs into editable marks or records. For generating school results from scratch, see our School Result Generator.

Tips for the Cleanest Conversion

  • Use a text-based PDF where possible. Scanned (image-only) PDFs have no selectable text, so table extraction is far less reliable.
  • Check column alignment after converting — complex, merged-cell layouts may need a quick manual tidy in Excel.
  • One table type per file converts more accurately than a PDF mixing many different table layouts.

Secure Conversion

Your PDF is sent over an encrypted HTTPS connection to our conversion engine, processed, and returned as an Excel file. Files are not kept permanently on the server — they're used only to perform your conversion. For sensitive documents, avoid uploading anything you're not comfortable processing on a remote server.

Questions & Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

Upload your PDF, let the tool detect and extract the tables, then download the result as an editable .xlsx Excel file. No sign-up required.

Yes. The output is a standard .xlsx spreadsheet with rows and columns you can sort, total, edit, and reformat like any normal Excel file.

Conversion works best with text-based PDFs that have selectable text. Scanned, image-only PDFs lack extractable text, so results will be limited.

Yes — unlike our image tools, PDF-to-Excel conversion runs on a server for accuracy. Your file is sent over a secure HTTPS connection, converted, and not stored permanently. Avoid uploading documents you don't want processed remotely.

Yes, completely free with no account, no watermark, and no limit on conversions.
